Fuji Sportive – however what a good excuse for a new one…. 😉
I’ve always enjoyed cycling, but only started to take it seriously in 2012 inspired by the Olympics in London I think. I got a bit bored of ‘training’ in the gym, plus found it hard to motivate myself to exercise indoors so decided to get out in the fresh air more. Got my first proper bike through the Bike2Work scheme, and promptly took part in a charity ride through work – where I joined a group of lads for 2 days cycling between Premiership grounds in East Anglia & London. The best bit? Alex Dowsett joined us for the second day so was great to cycle and chat with a pro whilst riding through London.
I don’t get/make enough time to cycle as I would like, so the opportunity to join in with a ride like this is not only fantastic motivation but an opportunity to raise money for my local hospital, and somewhere I spent a lot of time as a young lad! I’ve suffered with Asthma since birth, and whilst nowadays it’s well controlled (don’t panic lads!) when I was young it wasn’t and spent a good proportion of time at Lister receiving treatment. The idea I can do something now to give back is what excites me about this ride most.
Other than cycling, outside of my day job working for a high street bank, music is my biggest passion and have played in function bands since I was at school and still do today!
The TwinTown1000 will be, by far, the biggest challenge I’ve undertaken.
Bring it on!
